WordCamp Kolkata 2022 was a much-awaited event that brought the WordPress community together after a long break due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Held in the lively city of Kolkata, it was a great opportunity for people who love WordPress to meet, learn, and share ideas.
From expert developers to new bloggers, everyone came together to explore the world of WordPress. The event showed how powerful open-source platforms can be and celebrated the talent and creativity within the WordPress community.

WordCamp history
WordCamp began in 2006, created by Matt Mullenweg, one of the people behind WordPress. It started as a small, friendly event where WordPress users and developers could meet, share ideas, and learn together.
Over the years, it has evolved into a global series, with events held in cities worldwide. Following the tradition, in 2022, WordCamp took place in Kolkata.
This event brought together WordPress fans from all over the world, who came to connect, share their experiences, and celebrate their love for WordPress. It’s a perfect example of how WordCamp has grown into a global series of events that keep the community spirit alive.
Event details
The entire event was divided into two parts, Contributor’s Day and WordCamp Day, and was held on 17th and 18th December 2022, respectively. The venue was different every day.

Speakers and sessions
Speakers are one of the main parts of WordCamp and they play an important role. They share their thoughts with the attendees, guide them, and introduce new technologies.
WordCamp Kolkata 2022 had 22 speakers and they were experienced in the field. There was a “Question and Answer” section, visitors asked questions to the speakers and they tried to answer the questions.
Contributor’s day
The event started with Contributor’s Day on 17 December. On Contributor Day, participants contribute to the development of WordPress. Whether you are a developer, designer, writer, teacher or just a WordPress user, you always have a role to contribute.
There were 11 teams to join, namely Core, Documentation, Meta, Support, and more.

Some of our team members joined the support team and helped people by answering questions on the support forum.
WordCamp day
We can consider that this was the main day of the event from the point of view of the attendees. At WordCamp Kolkata 2022, the day began at 8 am with registration and breakfast. At 9:30 am the main part of the program started, the speakers started their speeches.
Lectures by Utsav Singh Rathore and Raihan Arif began in Hallrooms 1 and 2 respectively. Over time, they discuss many important topics, such as domain authority, backlinks, etc.
After a long discussion, it was time for lunch. From 1:05 pm to 2:10 pm was lunchtime and after that the sessions started consecutively.
The day ended with the Closing Remarks and Awards Ceremony from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, where key moments of WordCamp Kolkata 2022 were highlighted and outstanding contributions from the community were recognized. After the ceremony, the event officially came to an end at 6:45 pm.
